2 Review the Evidence

Your evidence review decides what you'll put into practice. Its job is to show that the intervention works and that it fits your setting.

Before you move on

  • You've appraised the strength and quality of each key source, not only summarized it.
  • The settings and populations in the key studies are close enough to yours for the results to carry over.
  • You know which outcomes and measures the strongest studies used.
  • You know which parts of the intervention made it work, and you plan to keep them.
  • You know which appraisal framework your program expects.

An evidence review for a DNP project is not a general literature review. It is an argument for a specific intervention in a specific place. Look closely at how the key studies measured their outcomes. If you can use the same measures, your results will be easier to compare and to defend.
